The technical expertise and the extensive understanding of roll engineering remains one the distinguishing characteristics of Valley Roller Company. We offer a wide array of roll engineering capabilities for numerous industries and applications. These capabilities create a one stop shopping approach, in essence a turn-key support for metal rolls.
Engineering Rolls
There are fundamental roll design considerations for each and every roll application. These design considerations cannot be left to chance since the performance of the steel or covered roll can have serious implications in end-use processes. When we design a roll for a customers application we take into account all of relevant engineering design factors of the roll design listed on the following page.
Engineering Focus
Utilizing modern engineering and CAD software, we are able to verify designs for mechanical stress, vibration, and thermal loads. We offer on-site technical support, including field measurement of rolls, roll application assistance, and process troubleshooting. Our engineer capabilities are broad as we have designed and fabricated rolls for a variety of industries and applications.
Proven Experience
Improving the performance of end-use roll applications is essential in most industries today. Our team of specialists offer an extensive background in engineering and the capability to design rolls to meet the most demanding applications. We can insure our customers get the most suitable design for the specified application by asking the right questions coupled with our own experience. We guide our customers through the roll design process from safety factors to machine design and all steps between. This technical expertise and the extensive understanding of roll engineering and application requirements remains the most important distinguishing characteristic of the company. Over the years we have designed rolls for a variety of industries and applications. There is an extensive list of applications we have designed and fabricated rolls for on the following page. This list is thorough but in no way exhaustive since we have vast experience in roll design and fabrication.
Roll Design & Fabrication Capacity
Minimum Roll Diameter: .250" Maximum Roll Diameter: 48.00" Minimum Face Length: 2.00" Maximum Face Length: 400.00" Roll Weight Limitations: 25,000 Pounds
Dynamic Roll Balancing
At Valley Roller Company we believe rolls must be dynamically balanced in order to function properly. Our approach to dynamic balancing differs fundamentally from many of our competitors. We do all of our dynamic balancing on new rolls and existing rolls in-house because this is essential to the proper function of the roll in applications where rolls operate at elevated operating speeds.
The center of axis of a roller must lie along the axis of rotation. Imbalance causes premature excessive wear of machine parts. It can cause uneven wear and rolls to heat-up in service. Imbalance forces soar as machine speeds increase. Imbalance can cause premature bearing failure.
We provide a full range of computerized balancing for the entire range of ISO balance specifications G1.0-G6.3. We offer two plane balancing; Three plane balancing with computerized optical center whip correction. Lastly, we can also add computerized quasi static balancing for a full 5 plane roll balance specification for the most exacting need.
